The Key to 2026 is Connection

I have been thinking a great deal about my mission during the Christmas break. I have been listening to the Franklin Planner Podcast lately and it got me thinking about my personal mission and if I can boil it down to one word and the word that kept coming to mind was connection.

So I am going to try to better my connections as the basis for my goals in 2026.

First connection is to God and my Savior Jesus Christ. I will strive to connect more to them through:

  • Daily Study of the scriptures with a focus this year on the Old Testament as well as the Book of Mormon.
  • Regular meditation time followed by morning and evening prayer. I will also strive to have more prayers in my heart throughout the day.
Next is connection to myself and nature. I will strive to gain this through:
  • Doing at least one physical activity every day.
  • Preparing for OCR and other races including 4 spartan races, 1 savage race and in the fall a 50-miler race.
  • I will spend time outside as often as I can including watching sunrises or sunsets and camping.
Next is connection to my family. I will strive to gain this through:
  • Once a month dates outside the home with my wife and deeper communications.
  • Once a month family activity outside the home with the kids and a family vacation to the upper Peninsula of Michigan.
  • Regular conversations with my siblings at least once a week.
Next is connection to my church community and specifically the Elders Quorum where I serve currently as the Elders Quorum President. I will strive to gain this through:
  • Doing regular ministering interviews with each member of my district but also make time to meet with each member of the quorum.
  • Holding 2 activities+2 Service projects this year.
  • Seeking monthly to connect to whom God suggest I work with.
Next is connection with my neighbors and community. I will strive to do this through:
  • Attending neighborhood events as often as I am allowed.
  • Inviting people over to our home on a regular basis.
  • Joining and actively participating in running groups.
  • Attending City council meetings and volunteering in at least 1 community event in 2026.
Lastly connection with my new job community and my online community. I will strive to do this through:
  • Getting to know the members of our team.
  • Working to build relationships with the buyers at people at Ford Motor Company.
  • Posting and commenting on social media regularly (weekly).
  • Posting one blog post at a minimum 2 times a month.
Thank you for coming along this journey of connection I will be striving to have in 2026. The year has started out poorly with sickness, and a little frustration but I am convinced I can truly gain greater connection to each of the important relationships in my life because that is what this life is about is building a sense of connection.
